Can't See The Trees For The Wood

As a child I always had a love of and strong bond with trees and this fascination has only grown since then. Whether it was playing in our homemade treehouse and climbing trees when I was little or camping under pines and walking through forests now. I have recently become more and more aware of the ways in which many people take trees for granted, which can be seen to both extremes ranging from the deforestation of the rainforests, the careless naked flame or piece of broken glass leading to raging forest fires and even down to taking an Aspirin. Through theatrical lighting and playful use of intervention with nature, this project seeks to offer and comment on our dependence on, and fascination with, the tree.
